והוה בשתא תשיעיתא לממלכיה בירחא עשיראה בעשרא לירחא אתא נבוכדנאצר מלכא דבבל הוא וכל משריתיה על ירושלם ושרא עלה ובנו עלה ברקום סחור סחור:
skhwr skhwr brqwm elh wbnw elh wshra yrwshlm el mshrythyh wkl hwa dbbl mlka nbwkdnatsr atha lyrkha beshra eshyrah byrkha lmmlkyh thshyeytha bshtha whwh
In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it around it.

ועלת קרתא בצירא עד חדא עשרי שנין למלכא צדקיהו:
tsdqyhw lmlka shnyn eshry khda ed btsyra qrtha welth
So the city was besieged until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

בתשעא לירחא ותקיף כפנא בקרתא ולא הוה מיכל לעמא דארעא:
darea lema mykl hwh wla bqrtha kpna wthqyp lyrkha bthshea
On the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

ואתרעת קרתא וכל גברי עבדי קרבא בליליא באורח תרעא בין שוריא די על גינתא דמלכא וכסדאי שרן על קרתא סחור סחור ואזל באורח מישרא:
myshra bawrkh wazl skhwr skhwr qrtha el shrn wksday dmlka gyntha el dy shwrya byn threa bawrkh blylya qrba ebdy gbry wkl qrtha wathreth
Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden (now the Chaldeans were against the city around it); and the king went by the way of the Arabah.

ורדפו משרית כסדאי בתר מלכא ואדביקו יתיה במישרי יריחו וכל משריתיה אתבדרת מניה:
mnyh athbdrth mshrythyh wkl yrykhw bmyshry ythyh wadbyqw mlka bthr ksday mshryth wrdpw
But the Chaldean army pursued the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

ואחדו ית מלכא ואסיקו יתיה לות מלכא דבבל לרבלת ומלילו עמיה פתגמי דינין:
dynyn pthgmy emyh wmlylw lrblth dbbl mlka lwth ythyh wasyqw mlka yth wakhdw
Then they captured the king and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they passed judgment on him.

וית בנוהי דצדקיהו נכיסו לעינוהי וית עיני צדקיהו עור ואסריה בשלשלן דנחש ואוביליה לבבל:
lbbl wawbylyh dnkhsh bshlshln wasryh ewr tsdqyhw eyny wyth leynwhy nkysw dtsdqyhw bnwhy wyth
They killed Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, then put out Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

ובירחא חמישאה בשבעא לירחא היא שנת תשע עסרי שנין למלכא נבוכדנאצר מלכא דבבל אתא נבוזראדן רב קטוליא עבדא דמלכא דבבל לירושלם:
lyrwshlm dbbl dmlka ebda qTwlya rb nbwzradn atha dbbl mlka nbwkdnatsr lmlka shnyn esry thshe shnth hya lyrkha bshbea khmyshah wbyrkha
Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

ואוקיד ית מקדשא דיי וית בית מלכא וית כל בתי ירושלם וית כל בתי רברביא אוקיר בנורא:
bnwra awqyr rbrbya bthy kl wyth yrwshlm bthy kl wyth mlka byth wyth dyy mqdsha yth wawqyd
He burned Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned every great house with fire.

וית שורי ירושלם סחור סחור תרעו כל משרית כסדאי דעם רב קטוליא:
qTwlya rb dem ksday mshryth kl threw skhwr skhwr yrwshlm shwry wyth
All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down the walls around Jerusalem.

וית שאר עמא דאשתארו בקרתא וית שמיעיא דאשתמעו על מלכא דבבל וית שאר המונא אגלי נבוזראדן רב קטוליא:
qTwlya rb nbwzradn agly hmwna shar wyth dbbl mlka el dashthmew shmyeya wyth bqrtha dashtharw ema shar wyth
Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the rest of the people who were left in the city and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon—all the rest of the multitude.

ומחשיכי עמא דארעא אשאר רב קטוליא למהוי מפלחין בחקלין ובכרמין:
wbkrmyn bkhqlyn mplkhyn lmhwy qTwlya rb ashar darea ema wmkhshyky
But the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to work the vineyards and fields.

וית עמודי נחשא דבבית מקדשא דיי וית בסיסיא וית ימא דנחשא די בבית מקדשא דיי תברו כסדאי ואובילו ית נחשיהון לבבל:
lbbl nkhshyhwn yth wawbylw ksday thbrw dyy mqdsha bbyth dy dnkhsha yma wyth bsysya wyth dyy mqdsha dbbyth nkhsha emwdy wyth
The Chaldeans broke up the pillars of bronze that were in Yahweh’s house and the bases and the bronze sea that were in Yahweh’s house, and carried the bronze pieces to Babylon.

וית דודיא וית מגרופיתא וית מזמריא וית בזיכיא וית כל מני נחשא דהוו משמשין בהון נסיבו:
nsybw bhwn mshmshyn dhww nkhsha mny kl wyth bzykya wyth mzmrya wyth mgrwpytha wyth dwdya wyth
They took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the spoons, and all the vessels of bronze with which they ministered.

וית מחתיתא וית מזרקיא די דהבא דהבא ודי כספא כספא נסיב רב קטוליא:
qTwlya rb nsyb kspa kspa wdy dhba dhba dy mzrqya wyth mkhthytha wyth
The captain of the guard took away the fire pans, the basins, that which was of gold, for gold, and that which was of silver, for silver.

עמודיא תרין וימא חד ובסיסיא דעבד שלמה לבית מקדשא דיי לא הוה מתקל לנחשתהון דכל מניא האלין:
halyn mnya dkl lnkhshthhwn mthql hwh la dyy mqdsha lbyth shlmh debd wbsysya khd wyma thryn emwdya
The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases, which Solomon had made for Yahweh’s house, the bronze of all these vessels was not weighed.

תמני עסרי אמין רומיה דעמודא חד וקרונתהון עלוהי דנחשא ורומא דקרונתהון תלת אמין וסרגתא ורמוניא על קרונתהון סחור סחור כולא נחשא וכאלין לעמודא תנינא על סרגתא:
srgtha el thnyna lemwda wkalyn nkhsha kwla skhwr skhwr qrwnthhwn el wrmwnya wsrgtha amyn thlth dqrwnthhwn wrwma dnkhsha elwhy wqrwnthhwn khd demwda rwmyh amyn esry thmny
The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a capital of bronze was on it. The height of the capital was three cubits, with network and pomegranates on the capital around it, all of bronze; and the second pillar with its network was like these.

ודבר רב קטוליא ית שריה כהנא רבא וית צפניה סגן כהניא וית תלתא אמרכליא:
amrklya thltha wyth khnya sgn tspnyh wyth rba khna shryh yth qTwlya rb wdbr
The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold;

ומן קרתא דבר גוזא חד דהוא ממנא על גברי עבדי קרבא וחמשא גברין דחזן אפי מלכא דאשתכחו בקרתא וית ספרא רב חילא דכנש ית עמא דארעא ושתין גברא מעמא דארעא דאשתכחו בקרתא:
bqrtha dashthkkhw darea mema gbra wshthyn darea ema yth dknsh khyla rb spra wyth bqrtha dashthkkhw mlka apy dkhzn gbryn wkhmsha qrba ebdy gbry el mmna dhwa khd gwza dbr qrtha wmn
and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and five men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe, the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the city.
20
ודבר יתהון נבוזראדן רב קטוליא ואוביל יתהון לות מלכא דבבל לרבלת:
lrblth dbbl mlka lwth ythhwn wawbyl qTwlya rb nbwzradn ythhwn wdbr
Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

ומחא יתהון מלכא דבבל וקטלינון ברבלא בארעא דחמת וגלו דבית יהודה מעל ארעהון:
arehwn mel yhwdh dbyth wglw dkhmth barea brbla wqTlynwn dbbl mlka ythhwn wmkha
The king of Babylon attacked them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

ועמא דאשתאר בארעא דבית יהודה דאשאר נבוכדנאצר מלכא דבבל ומני עליהון ית גדליה בר אחיקם בר שפן:
shpn br akhyqm br gdlyh yth elyhwn wmny dbbl mlka nbwkdnatsr dashar yhwdh dbyth barea dashthar wema
As for the people who were left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, governor.

ושמעו כל רבני חילותא אינון וגבריהון ארי מני עליהון מלכא דבבל ית גדליה ואתו לות גדליה למצפיא וישמעאל בר נתניה ויוחנן בר קרח ושריה בר תנחמת דמנטופה ויאזניה בר מעכת אינון וגבריהון:
wgbryhwn aynwn mekth br wyaznyh dmnTwph thnkhmth br wshryh qrkh br wywkhnn nthnyh br wyshmeal lmtspya gdlyh lwth wathw gdlyh yth dbbl mlka elyhwn mny ary wgbryhwn aynwn khylwtha rbny kl wshmew
Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Kareah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

וקים להון גדליה ולגבריהון ואמר להון לא תדחלון מעבדי כסדאי תבו בארעא ופלחו ית מלכא דבבל ויטב לכון:
lkwn wyTb dbbl mlka yth wplkhw barea thbw ksday mebdy thdkhlwn la lhwn wamr wlgbryhwn gdlyh lhwn wqym
Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them, “Don’t be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”

והוה בירחא שביעאה אתא ישמעאל בר נתניה בר אלישמע מזרעא דמלכותא ועסרא גברין עמיה ומחו ית גדליה ומית וית יהודאי וית כסדאי דהוו עמיה במצפיא:
bmtspya emyh dhww ksday wyth yhwday wyth wmyth gdlyh yth wmkhw emyh gbryn wesra dmlkwtha mzrea alyshme br nthnyh br yshmeal atha shbyeah byrkha whwh
But in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring came, and ten men with him, and struck Gedaliah so that he died, with the Jews and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.

וקמו כל עמא מזעירא ועד רבא ורבני חילותא ואתו למצרים ארי דחילו מן קדם כסדאי:
ksday qdm mn dkhylw ary lmtsrym wathw khylwtha wrbny rba wed mzeyra ema kl wqmw
All the people, both small and great, and the captains of the forces arose and came to Egypt; for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

והוה בתלתין ושבע שנין לגלות יהויכין מלך שבטא דבית יהודה בתרי עשר ירחין בעשרין ושבעא לירחא רבי אויל מרודך מלכא דבבל בשנת ממלכיה ית ריש יהויכין מלך שבטא דבית יהודה מבית אסירי:
asyry mbyth yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk yhwykyn rysh yth mmlkyh bshnth dbbl mlka mrwdk awyl rby lyrkha wshbea beshryn yrkhyn eshr bthry yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk yhwykyn lglwth shnyn wshbe bthlthyn whwh
In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, released Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison,

ומליל עמיה פתגמין תקנין ויהב ית כורסיה עיל מן כורסי מלכיא די עמיה בבבל:
bbbl emyh dy mlkya kwrsy mn eyl kwrsyh yth wyhb thqnyn pthgmyn emyh wmlyl
and he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

ושני ית לבושי אסוריה ואכיל לחמא תדירא קדמוהי כל יומי חיוהי:
khywhy ywmy kl qdmwhy thdyra lkhma wakyl aswryh lbwshy yth wshny
and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life;
